Auditing a month of fills for maker and taker charges, with a lira summary

Export your trade history from Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget, sort fills by maker and taker role, and convert the total charges to Turkish lira to see what your trading style actually costs.

Most traders know in theory that resting limit orders and instant market orders are charged differently. Far fewer have looked at their own numbers. A monthly audit of your fills turns the theory into something concrete: what share of your trades were takers, how much they cost in total, and whether a change in habits would matter. The steps below use the export functions on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget and a simple spreadsheet, with a final conversion into lira so the result is easy to grasp.

Export the trade history

Open the orders or trade history section of your exchange and look for an export or download option. Choose the past month and the spot or futures account you want to audit. The file usually lists each fill with time, pair, side, price, amount, fee and fee currency. Some exchanges include a liquidity column marking maker or taker; others require you to infer it from the order type.

Sort fills by role

In the spreadsheet, filter by the maker or taker column if present. If not, treat market orders and stop-market orders as takers, and check limit orders individually: a limit order that filled at the moment of placement usually took liquidity. Add up the fees for each group. Fees may be charged in different assets, so convert each to a single currency using the price at the time of the trade.

Convert the total into lira

Using a lira rate from a consistent source for each day, convert the monthly totals. Seeing a figure in lira rather than fractions of a coin makes it easier to judge. Compare taker costs with maker costs and with your overall profit or loss for the month. This is also useful for personal record keeping and any discussions with an accountant.

Decide what to change

If taker fills dominate, consider whether many of those trades could have been limit orders placed in advance, possibly with the post-only option. If your volume or holdings might move you into a different fee tier, check the current tier table on the fee page of your exchange while logged in, rather than relying on old figures. Repeat the audit next month to see whether the change made a difference.

  • Download last month's fill history for each account you trade, including the fee and fee currency columns.
  • Treat market and stop-market fills as taker and check immediately filled limit orders individually.
  • Convert each fee into lira using one consistent daily rate source before summing totals.
  • Check your live tier on the logged-in fee page before changing habits to chase a different rate.
