Turkish letters, chip ID cards and photo glare: avoiding exchange verification rejections
Exchange identity checks for Turkish users often fail on small details: letters such as ş, ğ and ı, glare on the chip ID card or names typed differently from the document. How to prepare so the first submission passes review.
Multiple exchanges | Turkey | TRY | fees, access and account safety
Identity verification on exchanges such as Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget is largely automated, and automated checks are strict about details. For Turkish users, two issues come up again and again. The first is the name: letters like ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş and ü may be typed with plain Latin letters in the form while the document shows the Turkish ones, or the other way round. The second is the photo of the chip identity card, whose glossy surface reflects light. Neither is complicated to fix, but both cause rejections that delay access for days.
Type your name the way the document shows it
Look at how your name appears in the Latin machine-readable area or the main name field of the document you will upload. Enter it in the form exactly as printed, in the same order, including middle names. If the form does not accept a Turkish character, use the closest Latin letter consistently and expect the reviewer to compare it with the document. Do not shorten names or use nicknames. If your bank account uses a different spelling, note it now, because withdrawals to a bank often require the names to match.
Photograph the chip ID card without glare
Place the card on a dark, matte surface near a window with indirect daylight. Avoid overhead lamps and the phone flash, which create reflections across the photo and hologram. Hold the phone parallel to the card so that all four corners are visible and the text is sharp. Check the image at full size before uploading: the name, number and dates must be readable without zooming guesswork.
Prepare for the face check
The liveness or selfie step compares your face with the document photo. Use even light from the front, remove glasses with reflective lenses and anything covering your hair line or face if the document photo shows it uncovered. Follow the head movements slowly. A stable connection matters, since a dropped video often causes an automatic failure that looks like a rejection.
If you are rejected
Read the rejection reason in the app carefully and fix only that point before trying again. Repeated quick attempts with the same problem can extend the review. If the reason is unclear, contact support through the official help centre. Never accept help from people offering verified accounts or faster approval for a fee; those offers lead to stolen identities and lost accounts.
